Europe’s Premier Forum for Life Sciences Product Liability, Policy & Dispute Resolution

For more than three decades, C5 has convened senior product liability and medical device litigators through its long-standing New York conference, creating a trusted environment for candid discussion of complex disputes.

Life Sciences Product Liability, Policy & Dispute Resolution Europe builds on that foundation, bringing the same discussion-driven, peer-level format to Brussels. This essential forum delivers a rare, defense-first lens on emerging EU liability, evidence, and cross-border risks – equipping in-house teams and external counsel with the strategies they need as Europe enters a more aggressive enforcement and collective-action era.

The program covers EU product-liability, class action, and mass-harm trends post-PLD, safety/vigilance & recalls, labeling and promotion disputes, and coordination across Member State procedures – giving attendees a comprehensive view of the most urgent litigation pressures facing life sciences companies today.

Why Europe is Now the Epicenter of Life Sciences Litigation

Europe is entering a more aggressive phase for drug and device disputes, driven by a perfect storm of regulatory expansion, technical transparency, and coordinated claimant activity. The new EU Product Liability Directive (PLD) will widen the scope of who can be sued, open access to internal documents, and capture software, AI, components, and additional economic operators. At the same time, the EU AI Act and European Health Data Space are creating structured technical and data trails that will inevitably be requested in litigation.

Across the region, pricing and reimbursement pressures – including “most-favoured nation” rules, claw backs, and refusals – are triggering high-stakes conflicts. And with the rise of collective redress mechanisms and third-party funders, coordinated claims are becoming more realistic and far more expensive to ignore.

This is no longer a niche conversation. Legal, regulatory, and commercial teams need a European defense playbook before PLD transposition, AI Act requirements, and pricing disputes converge through 2026–27.
