Beatriz San Martin

Beatriz San MartinBeatriz is a Partner in the IP & Technology Dispute Resolution Group at Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP.  She has a degree and PhD from the University of Cambridge specialising in genetics, cellular and molecular biology. Beatriz has a broad practice area advising clients in all aspects of intellectual property, with a particular focus on patents, SPCs and the life sciences sector.  Beatriz has significant experience litigating before the UK Courts.  For the past three years, she has been assisting in several patent cases on behalf of Eli Lilly & Company including a preliminary reference to the Court of Justice of the European Union concerning the interpretation of the SPC Regulation and a case before the Court of Appeal.  She has also been involved in a medical device patent case before the Patents County Court and a patent infringement case concerning insulation boards.  In addition, she advises on non-contentious matters including on IP due diligence. Beatriz is a member of a number of industry bodies and committees including EPLAW, AIPPI and the BioIndustry Association Cell Therapy and Regenerative Medicine Advisory Committee.  She has written numerous articles for legal and pharmaceutical publications and is on the Editorial Advisory Board of Pharmaceutical Technology Europe.   Beatriz is a regular speaker in a number of external conferences.  For the past six years, Beatriz has coordinated a series of IP lectures for the University of Cambridge Master in Bioscience Enterprise and is one of the lecturers in the course.
