Data Privacy in PharmaWednesday, March 21 to Thursday, March 22, 2012
TBA, Brussels
Data protection regulation is a minefield of confusion for the pharmaceutical industry. The European Data Protection Directive (95/46/EC) is not specific to any sector and national regulators are left to make their own minds up about regulation for data transfer, the classification of personal data and sharing of information with third parties. The pharma industry deserves special consideration because it relies on the capture, processing and analysis of personal data during clinical development. Even when a drug has been approved, secondary use of personal data for things like pharmacovigilance is a necessary part of the product lifecycle.
This conference will review existing data protection legislation and examine the potential impact of changes in the future. There will be a series of informative presentations addressing the challenges for data transfer, sharing information with third parties, secondary use of data and social media, all coming from an a line-up of expert speakers bringing diverse perspectives from Europe and the United States.
